The third and final day of the 2018 Open Water Nationals took place a little bit earlier than usual as race times were bumped up due to Arizona’s high temperatures that were expected to reach well above 100 degrees.

The women’s race was dominated by Erica Sullivan of the Sandpipers of Nevada. Sullivan jumped to an early lead and never looked back, finishing a stunning 24 seconds ahead of the competition with 58:18.168.

Hannah Moore of Wolfpack Elite picked up second place with a time of 58:42.418, followed by 14-year-old Mariah Denigan’s time of 58:53.438.

Fourth place went to Kensey McMahon of Bolles and her time of 59:08.653, while fifth was picked up by ASU Swimming’s Becca Mann’s 59:14.368.

Islanders Aquatics’ Makayla Sargent (59:32.262) and Egg Harbor Seahawks’ Maggie Wallace (59:53.899) were sixth and seventh respectively.
